Darren Platzky - Chairperson of building committee
Darren is the founding member of Mevaser Zion, having set up the community in 1998. Originally from South Africa,
Darren made Aliya in 1994 and has lived in Tel Mond for almost 10
years, with his wife Rozanne & four sons. Darren practices as a
property developer. “My personal vision for the community is
for one whose focus is on Jewish education for children and adults alike
with a balance of native Israelis and new immigrants”.
Paul Weinberg - Chairperson of fundraising committee
Also from South Africa,
Paul made Aliyah in 1996, and moved to Tel Mond in 1999. Paul is a
corporate and commercial lawyer, is married to Hayley and has four
sons. “Our community is unique in that it combines a successful
mix of Israelis and new immigrants, both religious & zionist in
their outlook with open doors and a helping hand to the wider Tel Mond
Community. I see this community as a beacon to the wider Tel Mond
community, an example of successful Aliyah and a welcoming home to
everyone”.
Steve Brand - Treasurer
Steve, who is an accountant, made Aliyah in 1995 from England. In 1999, Steve moved to Tel Mond with his wife Nurit and four children. “I
hope that Mevaser Zion continues to be a friendly community, providing
support & help both within & within the wider community and a
place to raise children”.
Elisa Bash - Head of Welfare Committee
Elisa made Aliyah in 1996 from New York,
and moved to Tel Mond in 2000. Elisa is married to Robert
and have 4 children. She has a masters degree in public
administration and a wealth of experience in working for local
government and non-profit organizations. “My vision for the
synagogue is that it serves as a home for people to daven, to learn
Torah, to celebrate holidays together and to provide communal support to
the community members and the general Tel Mond community”.
Ari Silbermintz - Building coordinator
In 1993, Ari made Aliyah from the USA, and moved to Tel Mond in 1999. Ari practices as a doctor, is married to Michal, and has three children.
“I see Mevaser Zion as an active, vibrant community that continues to
be caring and giving to its members and to the Tel Mond community as a
whole”.
